Asymmetric Wrap Top

Draped initially on my Grandfather while seated in his wheelchair, this layer was then modified onĀ collaborator Hilda Caba with guidance from the Charlotte ASAP [adaptive sports and adventures program] with design features that accommodate movement for a wearer using a sport wheelchair.

  1. Asymmetrical sleeves accommodate wheelchair sports: one sleeve is shorter and more open for freedom of movement while the long sleeve is fitted to pushing arm for temperature regulation and protection from abrasions when the arms rubs against the wheel while pushing across the court
  2. Wrap piece transverses the front of the body at the shoulder and waist to cinch in extra fabric for size flexibility
  3. Flatlock seaming is utilized to avoid abrasion against the skin
  4. Velcro closures at back and shoulder eliminate complicated closures
